2 Weeks of Creating Daily
Check in!
Hello Hello!
Checking in from Day 15 of my 100 Day Project, which is just a daily sketchbook spread for me, and I’m happy to report it’s still going strong! I’ve yet to do anything today but its still been busy and I’m planning to get to it shortly!
How Am I Feeling About the Challenge/Project So Far…
Being officially 2 weeks in I expected/anticipated a bit of a slow down or some sort of resistance. However This past week has been so fun in my sketchbook honestly.
None of the pages have been like otherworldly or anything but I feel like my sketchbook is starting to feel like my sketchbook again.
Now I realize that sounds weird, but when I started this 100 Day project I was still very much in the Start of a new Sketchbook phase and it still felt weird, and I missed my old sketchbook. I know how weird that sounds. Or maybe you get it?
I missed having a treasure trove of art to flip back through, to get new ideas from when I wasn’t sure what I wanted to draw.
I also changed sketchbook shapes to try something new with the current one, and turns out I like the older shape better, so the vibes were kinda just weird with it, and picking it up to doodle in was kinda weird for some reason.
But the 100 Day Project has helped this immensely!
Its truly helped me in liking the sketchbook, and I’m creating things in it that have potential, which is what I love about keeping a sketchbook. In other words its starting to feel like me.
That being said, this shape is still not my fave! I look forward to going back to the square shape!
The Past Week In My Sketchbook
So none of the art from this week was super exciting or even as “daring” as some of the work from Week 1, BUT… This week the art also felt like me, and I see potential in it, which is always exciting.
Also I actually did more than one spread on a couple of days!
I was brainstorming new ideas, and I think that our weather shifting to more spring/summer weather was a big motivator for me in that respect.
I’m truly powered by sunshine, and am a summer/beach inspired girlie so having the proper weather return means a lot for my creativity.
Also on Friday Moon Taxi put out a new album and some of the beachy feeling music certainly helped too.
I’ve always found music to be important when it comes to creating!
Now What About You?
If you are how are you finding it 15 Days in, or whatever day you are on as of reading?! Have you learned anything, good or bad? Do you have a piece or accomplishment you are excited about? I would love to hear in the comments!
I think one of the neatest parts of this challenge is actually what you learn about your own creativity. I think because you are doing something consistent daily for an extended period of time you really get a chance to notice all sorts of things. You notice what mediums you do and don’t like, or how to use them differently. You can notice its impact on your mood, you can notice how different external factors play into your practice and so on. Thats the really neat part and helpful part in my opinion, even if you don’t like the work you are creating in the moment.
