Catching Up, Gardens, & Trends in the 100 Day Project
and how its inspiring more art!
Hello Hello!
So last weekend I treated as a lil break as I went and had some fun in a few parks, so I haven’t checked in on here since Day 15 in my 100 Day Project and today is Day 29! 👀
I feel like the last time I checked in on here with all of the Project details things were going well and I was truly starting to feel inspired to create something that truly felt like me, and I’m happy to report that kept going.
So Day 15 was another fish! After having done the Parrot Fish I was really loving enjoying fish illustrations + I had been enjoying the Coral City Camera and I had my Fish ID book out to ID the fish friends who swam by.
This one is a Doctor Fish, and then I just added coral that isn’t exactly accurate to the camera but still to the regions that this fish inhabits. 🙂
Next up, the real inspiring pages began!
Days 16, 17, 18, 19, & 20 were all inspired by oceanscapes, with a mix of mediums & inspirations. Some of them were inspired by my own photos and some were inspired by photos via Pexels. (Day 20 is not pictured)

All of these pages were so fun, and made me really inspired to paint on a panel!
Ok now we are kinda caught up to last weekend, which was a fun one!
So over that weekend I went to a State Park that has a lovely Garden and the flowers were certainly in bloom so I did some pages inspired by that.
Honestly I may make a whole post about that weekend with peeks because the Garden Photos would be fun to share too! :) Above is Day 21 and Day 22!
Day 23 was a busy work day, but I still made some time to do a page also inspired by the weekend, but this time it was inspired by marine life, which again I want to write a whole post on because these types of days are my favorite.💚
Day 24 was the day where I wanted to get out of my sketchbook so I did!
I have had a painting in a box for the longest time because I didn’t like the ocean part of it. The colors were off, not me, and I honestly thought the panel just needed a full restart.
So I decided I would redo the water and see if I could “save” it. I also used my left over paint for another Sketchbook page too but I never took a photo of it. So at the end of this I suppose I will have to do a sketchbook tour!🙂
Day 25 I did a classic page for me of a doodle-y page that summarized a nice day! As the week went on I was really just wanting to paint so I kinda jumped out of my sketchbook to paint on nice paper, and on a panel. Day 26 was a full mini painting, and some practice of palms in my sketchbook.
Day 27 I played with color combos to find my ideal sky colors, and actually made notes of them which my future self will really appreciate. Day 28 I did an Underpainting on a panel, and then 29 I did a Mixed Media page in my sketchbook of a Royal Tern as I was waiting for a layer on my panel to dry. Though I ran out of daylight to get a picture, but I’m sure I will share it soon! 🙂
Overall the last few days of the 100 Day Project haven’t exactly gone to plan as I was working on sketchbook spreads at the start and I’ve gone a lil off course, but I think that’s ok.
In fact, I think working regularly in my sketchbook really inspired me to go bigger, to paint and not feel as precious about it possibly? Certainly feeling a bit more daring thanks to it, which has to be a good outcome from staying consistent for almost 30 Days!
So it certainly appears as if it's all working!🙂
If you are also doing the 100 Day Project how are you feeling, have you learned anything, noticed anything interesting?
Sea Ya Soon!

I just love reading everyone's journeys through this project - we're all learning so much! For me, for example, having distinct themes set up ahead of time has been a real eye opener in terms of understanding what I enjoy painting and what I'm a bit meh about. Can't wait to see where this takes us all by the end! 💚
