Documenting My Wrapped in My Sketchbook
Because why not! Plus this will be so fun to look back at!
Hello Hello!
Happy New Year! (although is it?) I’ve been so excited to write again on here, in fact I’ve been wanting to for the past month, but December, and the past 5 days of 2026 were just super busy!
Which I am super grateful for so I can’t complain at all, but it mean’t posting here was the thing that got cut from the priorities! SOOO some of the things I’m sharing today may be a lil “Christmasy”.
I think I’ve mentioned it in other posts, but music is probably my favorite art to consume. It must be on in the studio, it sets the mood, the vibe, and can totally impact the flow of art.
I have a painting playlist that I turn on when it’s time to paint and everything just flows better. Sure the list changes from time to time but its 100% important to my process.
A must!
In a way it makes a lot of sense because I love to paint moments. Be it moments from beach days, moments from a hike, the feeling of a day, and more often than not, those are also tied to music. So it’s all connected!😁
That being said every year I look forward to getting my Spotify wrapped and seeing all of the fun details. I always save the playlists, and screen shot all of the stats!
Each year when they come out I always find my self scrolling back in my camera roll to compare my past top streamed artists, but…. This year I was like, wait THIS should go in my sketchbook!
Its seemed like such a fun way to document it and a great way for it to live on outside of my camera roll! Plus potentially be a fun spread!
This was done before Christmas, and I was trying to decide if I wanted to put Neo Colors on my Christmas so I was borrowing my besties and testing them out for this spread! Of course I selected a super limited palate + kept with my ideal Christmas beachy colors! Hehe!
I don’t often sketch but since I had an idea for how I wanted the Top Artists page to look, I did give myself a few lil sketches to go off of.
✨I used my Pilot Color Eno in blue for the sketch. Which I have to say has become a favorite of mine, it really just disappears into the work with no need to really erase it!
I am not great at centering things, or writing in a “level” line, ha! I mean you can see the names drifting upwards, but that’s ok!
So according to Spotify my Top Artists were as follows…
nightly
All Time Tow
almost monday
The Elovaters
The Band Camino
All which I would totally agree with! Though I would say if my purchased music that I listen to not on Spotify counted in the grand scheme of things, All Time Low may just have snuck into #1. That being said, Nightly did release 2 albums this year so there was a lot of new music to listen to by them which I think gave them the upper edge!
Now I know most of you are here for the art, but hopefully the music bits are fun too!
Now on the other page I wanted to stick in more of the random bits. The listening age, the albums and so on so I kept with the same colors carried over the Christmas theme.
This time I also played with getting the neocolors wet which I wasn’t sure how my sketchbook would handle. It did well on the other page but I was SUPER careful.
I kinda just went for it on this page tho with the Ornaments. I then detailed them with a and white acrylic marker.
No I also wanna share the Top Albums, because it actually featured artist that weren’t the Top Artists! Which was interesting, but when you consider how many songs some artists have vs others, it makes sense.
songs to drive to by nightly
DIVE by almost Monday
wear your heart out by nightly
The Runarounds by The Runarounds
The Wave by Jonny Boy
All of which I would highly suggest. In fact as I’m writing this I am listening to The Runarounds album!
Also I have to say the “Club Faves” section was so fun this year, and I love the vibe of the artists that were in there! I mean that truly a line up of artists that just sound like a beach day!
ALSO… this year the Club Status thing was fun mine was Serotonin and said “Thrives on good vibes & natural light” which honestly is the most perfect description of me + art. LOL! I love it!
Ironically one of the other reasons this post is up so “late” is because the light has been so bad and I’ve not been able to get good light.😂
Well, I’m sure this is riddled with typos and errors considering it keeps correcting words to words I’ve not been typing but at this point that proof of humanity? I don’t know but… That another conversation for another day! 😉
Hope you enjoyed this random post about music + art and my Spotify wrapped! I actually LOVE seeing others wrapped, so if you also documented yours I would love to see, drop it in the comments!
Sea Ya Next Time!
~Sarah
