Drilling is Killing, So like... Lets Not!

I’ve been super busy lately prepping for a Market this up coming week and I’ve not had a ton of time to play around with art, and when I did well…
Nothing was working. Typically the answer would be… Go to the Beach, Go for a Walk… But it’s VERY cold. Like we have winter alerts out in Florida.👀
So I just attempted something in my sketchbook with some new supplies.
Eh, it didn’t go well, BUT now I’m here because I’ve just been reminded that its the last week get in your Public Comment to Oppose Drilling offshore, which is SUPER important.
ICYMI : The Trump Administration has proposed expanding oil and gas drilling across over a billion acres of U.S. waters off the coast of California, Florida, and the within the Gulf of Mexico, and in the untouched waters off Alaska. (See Full Plan Here)
There are so many reasons opening MORE drilling anywhere, but especially off the coasts of the US, is a bad idea, yet here we are.
So I would love to encourage you to read up on the topic and get your Public Comment in to oppose these actions before Jan. 23rd.
Now what is a public comment you ask? Well when the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) proposes a new plan it is filed with the Federal Register, and during its review period the Public has the ability to put in their two cents so to speak.
Side note : Many think that once you “Vote” your say is over when it comes to Governments big and small, but that isn’t so. There are actually processes in place that are supposed to allow constituents to have a say, and hold your elected leaders accountable. Be it via calling your Representatives, your local commissioners, showing up at public meetings, putting in a public comment, and so on… All are things YOU can do and should do.

If you are already ready to make a statement but don’t know what to say take a look at Step 2 in the Take Action section. You can use the template they provide as a jumping point. I always like to add in a personal touch. So if you have an oil spill story to add in or a moment that would help build the case as to why drilling is bad add it in where it seems appropriate and there ya go!
Fill out all of the proper info on the Register site and get your comment posted!
While I know it doesn’t feel like a major act of creating change, it’s something!
It’s something that could Protect our Oceans, our Coastal Communities, and truthfully the health of the Planet so THANK YOU for taking the time to do so. Many, Many, MANY of us care, and appreciate you taking the time to oppose the Drilling.
It still to this day baffles me that we have such amazing science/data that tells us exactly what we need to do to create a better future for our Planet therefore for all living beings, yet “we” choose to do the opposite.
However, everything is connected, and when you notice all of these connections it makes sense as to how we got here. I just wish and hope more could start putting everything together, it would make a huge difference.

SOOO… The Oil Industry has really done a number on our planet while being fully aware of the implications, but has always chosen Profits over People.
It's happened before and it’s likely to continue, if we don’t do something to stop these potential future drilling leases, and when I read this post and break down of all of the history you can genuinely see all of these previous tactic being used again.
They hid science and created a misinformation campaign, sound familiar? I mean the US Climate website being completely changed, the changing of lots of GOV sites, the changes being made to the health system by unqualified people. It’s a tactic that was used years ago, and it’s just been rebranded. It’s happening now on a massive (dare I say unprecedented) scale, and Oil is still very much involved.
