New Sketchbook, New Shape, & Swatches!
Why is starting a new sketchbook so bittersweet?
So this is truly my first time starting a new sketchbook after fully filling one and it’s weird. Like I’m kinda bummed I will no longer have my sketchbook to flip through when ideas aren’t flowing.
Anyone else have the issue? I mean so far its lead me to now carrying about 2 sketchbooks but still! It’s weird how attached you become!
Equally starting this sketchbook wasn’t nearly as intimidating as starting the last. I jumped right in and made some swatch pages of “new to me” products that I got for Christmas.
Then my next pages was obviously shells because I mean the last one had 222 shells drawn in it so it need to start off with shell page!
Also shells are my hello. You know when you are testing a pen and you default to a word to try out to see how it writes? I’ve always found it to be hello, and turns out my go to doodle is shells. SO…. Shells are my Hello!
I am trying out a different sketchbook this time which is feeling a lil weird. It’s virtually the same sketchbook, but a slightly different size.
It’s a Talens Art Creations in Mint, just like my last one, but this one is a 3.5 inches by 5.5 inches. I was using the lil square one which is 4.7 inches by 4.7 inches.
Based on the first few pages it feels smaller, and I kinda miss the other one? I’m not sure yet but it shall be fun to play with regardless.
Its cute, and not intimidating so I’m excited to compare after I’ve spent a lot of time with it!
I still like these smaller formats tho!
I feel like since I always feel like I should do a full spread, a full spread in one of these smaller sketchbooks doesn’t take a ton of time.
Therefore there are less excuses as to why I shouldn’t take time for my sketchbook. Ya follow? 😂
Just trying to set myself up for success! Which I totally suggest you try too if you are trying to sketchbook regularly.
Now I would LOVE to know what size/type of sketchbook you like and why! Its always neat to see others preferences! I love a sketchbook video!! 👀
