šTid-Bits #2 Art Things, Reads, & More!
Hello Hello!
Hope you are all having a lovely Sunday! Iāve just finished up my Day 37 of the 100 Day Project, and I have to say Iām really enjoying staying so consistent! There have been some days where I just am like what should I drawā¦. But somehow I still figure it out, and I can already see it helping future me.š
Today I decided instead of a recap of the week it was time to bring back the Tid-Bits.
šØArt Things Iām Enjoying
This week Iāve really been enjoying the Tombow Fudenosuke. Iāve not used it much in my 100 Day Project but felt like more just classic sketches a few days this week (usually days when the sun was lacking), and its just such a good pen.
Painting on Panels! Iāve really been enjoying painting lately. Oddly enough I had a lot of fun working bigger and now I kinda wish I had more 8X10 panels.š
Watched this Youtube video last night and her foxes are just TOO cute!
šReading Things
This piece by Alan Gerard (Balanced Wx) is such an important read.
As someone who would scrapbook concerts, and also looks forward to Spotify wrapped every year this was a good read. In a way sketch booking a documenting things in written word even here, feels like a step in the right direction.
Another interesting read from the same writer! I love music, always have and in many ways itās intertwined with my creative practice, so reading this was fascinating. I buy music and stream so? I also have a sleet handful of artist I enjoy following on socials and LOVE watching interviews of during a new press time soooo..
Ok, serious question, are you a doodler? Have you always been, or were you once? This piece about our brains + doodling makes SO much sense. Also this is exclusive to those whom consider themselves to be artists. This applies to everyone. Iāve always found myself doodling if there is paper + a pen nearby!
šWorldly Things
NASAās Top Climate Scientist has stepped down, the article that the Scientific American did is certainly worth a read.
In case you havenāt heard the ESA (Endangered Species Act) is at risk again specifically in regards to the Marine Life in the Gulf of Mexico. This video explains it really well. This week the āGod Squadā that gets to make changes to the ESA is to meet and try to make it so Big Oil can basically do whatever they want. sigh
What a sad stat, also I feel like its pretty simple to say that ecocide is certainly happening.
Hawaii is in recovery mode after all of the devastating floods. A great source to keep up to date on what is needed is Our Hawaii 808, and if youāve yet to see much about the floods here is a video by Nathan Florence, he also shares ways to donate, and a bit about what Florence Marine will be doing to help.
āØRandom Bits
This recipe from Vegan Scratch Kitchen is so good!
If you enjoy learning about shells this video was a fun watch. Lately Iāve really been enjoying shell videos on a weekend morning, granted it makes me want to go looking for shells but thatās ok!
Earth Day is coming up, and I canāt wait to write some post specifically for that. Will you be doing anything for Earth Day next month?
Below is a lil list of artists I am enjoying seeing daily thanks to the 100 Day Project!
Rumor has it 8 Million people participated in Peaceful Protests this weekend all over the world in light of whatās happening in the US. Which honestly the fact people protested around the WORLD feels SO neat. Sad that it has to happen, but WOW! While it can feel like it doesnāt do anything, I truly feel like it helps with morale and shows that you arenāt alone which is nice and helps give hope maybe? I got to partake and it was nice to join in and read all of the signs as well as use my art for good.
Well my friends! I think that is it for today! I hope you are having a lovely day, and hope you make some time to doodle! š
Sea ya Soon!
~Sarah
