Trying a Scribble Brigade for the First Time
Via a Sophie McPike Video on Youtube!
Hello Hello!
I’m currently feeding beach guides through my laminator and finally getting a chance to write here!
I was quite bummed I ran out of time this weekend to write a post, but honestly things were busy in a good way so I wasn’t going to be mad about it! That being said I’m here, and actually have really been looking forward to writing again.
Sometimes I forget that while 25 Sweetpeas started in 2015 via nail art, my main focus was writing blog posts for the said art!
Like I loved blogging, and the writing aspect of it all. Even if it was loaded with typos, now that just proves it was written by a human right? 😂
Actually interestingly enough when I got my first email address, I used to send unsolicited Newsletters to family members. 🙈 No kidding, I called it Hot off the Press and it would be filled with random things. Usually my favorite songs, or what my favorite bands were up to, and random questions. I’m sure it was not enjoyed by my brothers, or anyone else who was lucky enough to receive it but now my love of weekly newsletters seems destined from the start.
It’s funny isn’t it? Now I literally write a weekly Studio Notes newsletter for my shop, and then I write here. I LOVE it all, and mixing in my art, it all just makes sense!
So the past 2 weeks have been a bit chaotic, in the best way! I’ve been creating so much art! Like I was truly in a creative flow last week and it was so great. Creating art that actually comes out like how you imagine it is just a great feeling.
Rare, but great!
Even though I was busy creating for my Shop, and prepping for the major Holiday shopping week (this week) I did create some art that was just for fun!
I recently rediscovered my love of Sophie McPike Youtube videos and decided to participate in her Scribble Brigade! ( I watched it days after it was live)
I sat on the couch, had it on the TV, and used super limited supplies and it was so fun!
First she showed a reference photo for a few moments and we were supposed to take notes. However that may be. Mine were a lil sketch.
Then we had a timed amount of time to create the page using just our notes, no “live” reference. AKA the Picture was no longer on the screen.
It was fun, and because I used a limited palette I had to be creative with my color use, and work on the actual things in the reference rather than colors.
Overall it was a lot of fun! Given that I did it all cozied up on the sofa I didn’t take a ton of photos, but it was a lot of fun, and I would do it again for sure. Maybe I’ll have to go back and watch some of her older ones.
Below is the one I followed along! I also loved how she went over others who sent in theirs when it was live.
Well my friends that’s it for today’s post! Just a lil something that I’m so glad I made time for in this busy season! Hope you enjoyed this random sketchbook moment!
Sea Ya Later!
