đWelcome to Seashells & Sketchbooksđ
A lil spot on the internet for art admirers, artists and ocean lovers!
đWelcome to Seashells & Sketchbooksđ
My lil spot on the internet to create a safe space, or shall I say a community, for art admirers who are obsessed with the ocean, and enjoy learning.
Artists who love the ocean, and ocean activists who enjoy creativity or just want to explore the ocean in other ways.
I want this space to be a mix of creativity and advocacy for protecting our oceans, and our environment because I do believe art can help in many different ways.
Plus I want to explore creativity and how its all connected and how those passions together can help the world.
If that sounds like something you would love, I hope you will join this lil corner of the internet with me!
Now, I should probably introduce myself since this is a new lil space for me! So here it goes! (Why is this part always so weird?)
A peek at a sketchbook page from last year!
đHey there!
Iâm Sarah, an ocean inspired and motivated artist.
If youâve ever come across 25 Sweetpeas online, thatâs me!
Iâm the Sarah part of 25 Sweetpeas By Sarah. đ
25 Sweetpeas is a stationery & lifestyle brand that I created for my art a few years ago, and the amount of amazing things Iâve been able to do because of it is amazing, and I love it so so much!
However lately I have found myself wanting a longer form way of sharing my art and passions.
Advocacy has always been something that Iâve wanted to be apart of 25 Sweetpeas, and Iâve been able to add more of that into my work in the past year which has been great.
From my Climate Crab Sticker, the Save Our Oceans sticker, to the less obvious nature inspired art that helps people build appreciation for our environment, Iâm always overthinking ways to help through art.
In light of the stressful time that is 2025, I have been brainstorming for ways to do more.
A way to talk more about art, creativity, and the ocean let alone how they all go together!
After a lot of research I feel like Substack may just be the place!
đ Seashells & Sketchbooks is going to be Different
Different from what I usually share online that is.
It will still be my art, but I am also going to talking about creativity and advocacy.
Writing this in 2025, from the States, itâs safe to say the world feels intense, stressful, and scary.
All of these thing can impact art, creativity, and in the terms of advocacy it can feel impossible.
In fact some days things feel quite hopeless.
But thatâs not the âenergyâ we need right now.
We need to remember art can help.
Most days I do believe art can help us through this time. Be it to calm our mind, or to make a statement. But sometimes I also forget this.
Which is why I want this space to be all about that!
đ´Now its time for Some Back Story
Last year I started a Studio Notes Newsletter for 25 Sweetpeas, and itâs been so nice!
I share a behind the scenes look into the studio once a week, and then share tid-bits of important and or fun things at the end.
Itâs been so nice to do, and I love it. In fact there were a few instances last year where I even wrote special editions.
These editions came out when it was time for Floridians to step up and help protect our State Parks, or when Climate Change was being deleted from textbooks.
These moments of talking about a current issue and advocating for what was right kind of sparked this Seashells & Sketchbook space, because there was something lacking within those Newsletters.
The sense of community.
Here in this space we can take the conversation further in comments and truly interact and that is so valuable!
So Seashells and Sketchbooks can be a spot where everything collides!
A space for our obsession with art + the ocean + advocating for a better future for all.
I look forward to sharing this space with you and sharing everything from scribbles to finished pieces, and obsessing over ocean facts together.
Thanks so much for reading this far, and I canât wait to sea you again soon right here!
~Sarah
I hope to release a new Seashells + Sketchbook every other week starting regularly in March of 2025, so be on the lookout! If you like getting lil updates and more casual art updates you can also use the Substack App! Its free, and has a super nice interface to use and browse!
